Flying to Bangkok, Thailand

Hello! This time, i'll try to write in English.

Talking about vacation is sooooo interesting.
So, here i write my first experience to Bangkok, Thailand. As we can go in low season, my friend and i look for the cheapest air fare. We got promo from Tiger Airways with only 1 rupiah fare of one trip.
We chose the best time that my friend and i can go to Bangkok. The final fare for 1 person for round trip from Jakarta to Bangkok is Rp 1,300,000. So i could say it "Cheap". And a friend of my friend said that she wants to join our trip also, but she would use different flight with us.

18 June 2013, We arrived at Suvarnabhumi International Airport to Bangkok, around 8 pm local time. The airport is huge and the interior is nice. We took a taxi from airport, it cost 400 Baht. After around 40 minutes we arrived at our reserved hotel - my friend made the reservation first before the date we departed to Bangkok - Lemon Tea Hotel at Pratunam. We chose Pratunam, because it near to Pratunam market (wholesale fashion market) and Platinum Mall ( it looks like ITC Mangga Dua in Jakarta). A friend of my friend arrived at the noon before us.

The hotel was new and quite small at lobby. But the interior and exterior is cool. We took a bit of time to get narcissist in lobby. And the room is small too. But, overall, the hotel is clean, well-serviced, and cozy. For 4 nights, we paid IDR 1,950,000, so for 1 night the rate is IDR 487.500. Not too expensive. (Sorry, i dont have picture of the hotel from front side,it's all in my lost phone, but i've posted in my Path)

About the food, i ate the famous Pad Thai from Thailand in local cafe near hotel. It cost Baht 150. Everyone said that food in Thai was cheap. So, do I. The food were really cheap.

We tried "kwe cap juan" - i dont know how it spells, i just heard from the local said the name of food. No photo of kwe cap. Because  the bad happened.
I lost my mobile phone when we finished shopping at Platinum Mall. So, many photo i took with my phone was gone. Really sad! :(

But kwe cap is not recommended to eat. Kwe cap is kind of noodle soup (you can choose white noodle or instant noodle) with minced pork, sliced egg and tofu, small cubes of - i can said the name in English but i think it was pork blood that became a jelly and cut to a small cubes. We can add spicy if we want.

I ate Mango Sticky Rice, also famous from Thailand. It cost 180 Baht. So delicious, must try food when you are in Thailand. Another food, i ate like hainam rice with chicken, or chicken curry. And it cost around 55 Baht in Platinum Mall Food Court. But be careful if you are a Moslem, because many food are non-Halal or contains pork.

This trip is shopping trip. So, we didn't go to tourist destination such as floating market, temples, and souvenir shop.
We went to Pratunam Market, Platinum Mall, Siam Paragon, Siam Center (next to Siam Paragon) and Asiatique River Front. All for shopping time. Pratunam Market like an open market, many shops, if you buy many, they can give you the cheaper price. Same like Platinum Mall. But Platinum Mall is air-conditioned, and more comfortable to shopping.

Siam Paragon is a shopping mall of international high end fashion brands and there is a largest aquarium in South East Asia. The most i like is Asiatique River Front. I will write about Asiatique in different post.
And here it is, the local transportation "Tuk - Tuk". The tips when you want to use tuk tuk, ask the local about the rate, you can ask the hotel staff. Then you ask the driver first how much if you want to go. You can bargain. And prepare your heart, because some of tuk tuk driver are likes Toretto in Fast and Furious movie. FYI, from Pratunam to Asiatique we used tuk - tuk and cost 200 Baht.
So do if you want to take taxi, better if you ask the driver first if they want to using meter or they make the price.

If there's any chance to visit Thailand again, i want to spend time in Bangkok again!

*) sorry for any grammar mistakes, i'm still learning.

  2. i reached lemon tea hotel by taxi or tuk - tuk. there's no bts station near the location. as i browsed in internet, they said "Skytrain
Centrally located, Pratunam is well-covered by the Sukhumvit Line of the BTS Skytrain. From Ratchathewi BTS station in the south of Pratunam, it is only a 15 minutes walk to the centre of the action (the intersection of Phetchaburi Road and Ratchaprarop Road). Phaya Thai covers the central area of the district, while Victory Monument is located in the north. At Phaya Thai BTS station, you can switch onto the ARL, but as the systems are not integrated, you will have to buy a new ticket."
